The Crazy Mountain Ventures guides are a team of experienced outdoor leaders deeply passionate about the wilderness. They are dedicated to ensuring that your trip in the Crazies is a fun, educational, and safe adventure fueled by their love for the outdoors.

Each guide is a Certified Wilderness First Responder, achieved through a 70+ hour course of rigorous hands-on medical study and training for the wilderness context.

The guides share a wealth of knowledge of the history, geology, plants, and animals of the Crazies and the surrounding areas of Montana. Their knowledge, combined with the inevitable trail stories, jokes, games, and riddles, will make all of the learning fun and exciting.

Eamon Cullen

Eamon Cullen grew up in the Northeast, engaging in backpacking, hiking, skiing, and biking from an early age. His passion for the outdoors led him to pursue a career as a guide, starting with foundational skills developed in Boy Scouts and personal excursions. After high school, he refined these skills during a semester with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in the Wind River Mountains. Eamon holds Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer, Boy Scouts of America Trek Leader, and Avalanche Level 1 certifications.

Following his NOLS experience, Eamon became a guide at the Massawepie Scout Reservation in the Adirondack Mountains, leading six-night canoe-packing trips for Boy Scout troops. During this time, he discovered his passion for guiding and mentoring middle and high school students.

As a strong leader and skilled outdoorsman, Eamon brings energy and enthusiasm to each trip, inspiring young people to embrace the outdoors, push their limits, and learn new skills.

In 2022, Eamon and Finn co-founded Crazy Mountain Ventures, aiming to share their love for the outdoors with young people in Livingston and help students become confident outdoorsmen, strong leaders, and resilient individuals.

Ella Pietras

Ella Pietras, raised in the mountains of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, developed a strong connection to the outdoors early in life. Her passion for adventure and the natural world shaped her into the skilled guide she is today. After high school, she enhanced her backcountry skills and leadership through a semester with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

An avid skier, mountain biker, and backpacker, Ella thrives in challenging environments, bringing expertise and enthusiasm to every outdoor pursuit. Whether skiing fresh powder, tackling rugged biking trails, or leading backpacking trips, her passion for exploration is evident.

Ella's dedication extends beyond her personal pursuits. She is deeply committed to inspiring young girls to embrace outdoor adventures. Creating an inclusive environment, she empowers them to grow their skills and confidence. Her energetic, supportive approach ensures a rewarding and transformative experience for all.

Josh Lucas

Josh Lucas, a native of Oregon, developed a deep connection to the outdoors through exploring the Pacific Northwest. An avid snowboarder, surfer, and skater, Josh finds self-expression through these activities. His love of nature is a driving force behind his outdoor pursuits, connecting him deeply to the environment.

His passion for the backcountry began with an Outward Bound trip at age 14, leading him to complete a Rocky Mountain semester with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). This experience shaped his character, outdoor skills, leadership, and teamwork abilities. It also motivated him to move to Montana, where he is studying Environmental Science at Montana State University, Bozeman, and pursuing a Leadership certification.

Josh channels his enthusiasm for snowboarding into competition and media projects, collaborating with local companies. He is committed to fostering a positive outdoor learning environment where he can share his love of nature with young people.

Henry Garneau

Henry Garneau, raised on the east end of Long Island, New York, developed a deep love for the outdoors and became an accomplished surfer at a young age. His exploration of the woods and mountains of the Northeast further refined his skills as a snowboarder and instilled in him valuable life lessons through outdoor adventures.

Driven by his passion for nature, Henry completed a semester with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), where he gained a deeper connection to the wilderness and built a strong backcountry skillset. He is interested in wilderness first aid, risk management, and group dynamics.

Henry thrives in challenging environments and enjoys helping others push their limits while exploring new terrain. He is dedicated to outdoor education and takes pride in sharing his knowledge of the natural world with others.

Finn Cullen

Finn Cullen developed a love for the outdoors through mountain biking, fishing, and backpacking in the Northeast. His passion led him to Brevard College in Western North Carolina, where he competed on the cycling team and earned a BA in Business and Organizational Leadership. During his time there, he led classmates on hiking, fly fishing, and backpacking trips in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Finn is a certified Wilderness First Responder.

While backpacking and mountain biking are his favorite activities, Finn embraces new experiences and is committed to outdoor stewardship. His volunteer work on trail maintenance and building projects reflects this dedication. His outdoor skills and calm leadership make him a valued team member.

In 2022, Finn co-founded Crazy Mountain Ventures with Eamon to share their passion for the outdoors with young people in Livingston. Together, they aim to help students become skilled outdoorsmen, strong leaders, and resilient individuals.
